NAOPpag NGI Service Model Committee Progress
The Network Architecture, Operations and Policy Program Advisory Group (NAOPpag) created a Next Generation Infrastructure (NGI) Working Group with three co-chairs, Dee Childs (TAMU) for service models, Jim Stewart (UETN) for infrastructure and James Deaton (GPN) for software and automation.
The service model group met in early December to begin their work. The group will provide input and feedback to the Internet2 staff on the creation of service models for NGI with their first milestone being to provide input for the 2019 Tempe Connector/Network Member Principals’ meeting.
The group reviewed their charter and a set of principles for creating the service models. The group then heard about the network services currently offered. In their next meetings, they will focus on reviewing future service models.
In addition to Dee, the members of the group include Cort Buffington (KanREN), Stephen Kankus (NYSERNet), Matt Riley (U of Oregon), Paul Schopis (OARnet), Marc Wallman (North Dakota State University).
