CANS 2012

Pacific Northwest Gigapop, Pacific Wave, and the University of Washington hosted the 2012 Chinese American Networking Symposium in Seattle.

In continuation of discussions at the last meeting, this year's symposium covered topics in: 1) stable global end-to-end network performance 2) IPv6 usage and deployment 3) Federation and Identity Management 4) support of distributed education capabilities on an international scale; 5) Scientific Research Collaboration; 6) Software Defined Networking and Future Internet Technologies and 7) joint applications that leverage international networks (e.g., large-scale data management and transfers, visualization, and remote sensing). In addition, the organizing committee once again put special emphasis on bringing together U.S. CIOs and their Chinese counterparts. Towards this goal, the symposium included sessions on university technology organization and management, and on how to support remote education and "campuses abroad."
